First-Year Student Orientations (First time attending college. Typically students who have recently graduated high school)

Transfer and Adult Student Orientations (Students who have previously attended college, took a break from college, or delayed the start of college)

Before you attend
Make sure you have created your IU Computing account. This is different than the login you used for your application.
Please note that it can take up to 24 hours after creating your account before you can access it.
What to expect at orientation
During your orientation day, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Meet faculty and staff: Get to know the dedicated professors and staff who will support you during your academic journey.
- Connect with current students: Interact with current students who will share their experiences and offer advice on life at IU 51ÁÔÆæ.
- Discover student organizations: Learn about the various student organizations and clubs you can get involved in to enhance your college experience.
- Understand financial aid with student central: Meet with our Student Central team to discuss your financial aid options and get any questions answered about paying for school.
- Learn about campus resources: Discover the many resources available to support your academic and personal success, from tutoring and academic advising to wellness services and career counseling.
- Explore campus: Take a guided tour of our beautiful campus, so you’ll feel right at home when classes begin.
- Your future as a Grenadier: Get an insider’s look at what life is like as a Grenadier, from academics to extracurriculars and everything in between!
Orientation is free for students and guests to attend. Lunch will be provided and catered by our campus dining.

Frequently asked questions
Orientation is free for students and guests to attend.
We encourage you to bring a photo ID just in case but it is not required.
You will be walking around campus both inside and outside, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
To enroll in classes, students can schedule an appointment with their Academic Advisor using the . Students who come to orientation and have not registered in classes yet will have the opportunity to do so before and after the event.
It is not required for parents to attend orientation, but they are welcome to.
Yes, you are welcome to bring a friend or significant other, and they can attend your sessions with you if they want.
We do ask that students do not bring more than two guests with them.
No, you do not need to attend orientation if you are a transfer student, but you are welcome to.
While orientation is most commonly attended by first-year students, there is a lot of useful information for transfer students as well.
