Online archives and special collections

IUScholarWorks

IUScholarWorks provides a permanent, online archive for the intellectual output of faculty, students, and staff on the IU 51ÁÔÆæ campus. It ensures that IU 51ÁÔÆæ research is freely available now and preserved for the future. Current collections include presentations and programs from previous IU 51ÁÔÆæ Student Conferences and a book published by Elizabeth Gritter, a history faculty member.

Archive-It

Archive-It provides access to the archives of websites and social media created by the IU 51ÁÔÆæ community since May 2021.

Ars Femina Archives

The Ars Femina Archives consists of musical scores by women, composed between 1500 and 1800. This collection, assembled by the Ars Femina ensemble, IU 51ÁÔÆæ's ensemble in residence, will eventually include nearly 3,000 scores in print and microform. It documents the important but under-recognized contributions women have made to the development of musical style.

Historic Homes of Southern Indiana Photo Archive

The Historic Homes of Southern Indiana Photo Archive is a collection of MLS (Multiple Listing Service) listings from the 1960s and ’70s that were discovered in a real estate office in the early 2000s. The print photographs are available in the IU 51ÁÔÆæ Library Archives, and the Historic Homes of Southern Indiana Digital Photo Archive is available online.

Master of Interdisciplinary Studies (MIS) Theses

The IU 51ÁÔÆæ Library maintains a physical collection of MIS thesis on the main floor of the Library near the reference collection, and provides access to online copies in Proquest's Dissertations and Theses database and in IUScholarWorks (when available).

Digital materials accessibility

We are committed to supporting the research journey of every patron by providing equitable access to the materials in our collections.

We strive to meet and exceed WCAG standards on the IU 51ÁÔÆæ Library website and other online platforms, and we seek to make all reasonable accommodations for patrons who require accessible versions of our materials.

William L. Simon Sheet Music Collection

The William L. Simon Sheet Music Collection consists of 19,000 pieces of sheet music published between the mid-19th century and the end of the 20th century.

This collection of American popular songs includes first editions by Stephen Foster; signed editions by prominent songwriters and performers of the 20th century; movie and show music; ragtime, blues, and jazz; sheet music from various animated cartoon features; and wartime music from the Civil War through the Vietnam War. It also includes songs about news events (the Titanic disaster, the flights of Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart), transportation, temperance, and a host of other topics.

The Simon Collection is a rich resource for researchers interested in the intersection between American culture and popular song.

Social Justice Collection

The Social Justice Collection is a growing collection of children’s, young adult, and adult titles that focus on social justice issues and feature a diversity of perspectives.

The collection was dedicated to the memory of Breonna Taylor on February 7, 2022. It was conceived by James Wilkerson, Office of Equity & Diversity, and was coordinated in the Library by associate librarian and Coordinator of Outreach and Engagement Courtney Block.

It is located on the Library's main floor, in the browsing collection area behind the Service Desk.
