Overdue or missing materials

For standard library materials, the IU 51ÁÔÆæ Library does not charge late fees. However, if Library materials are not returned or renewed within 30 days of their due dates, replacement costs of those items are billed to patrons.

Library materials on Course Reserve accrue late fees at the following rates:

  • Two-hour Closed Reserve:$1 per hour every hour past the due date, up to $25.
  • One-day, four-day, and seven-day Reserve:$1 per day every day past the due date, up to $25.

If you have accrued a replacement fine or Course Reserve late fee, you will receive a final notice in the mail, and then fees and replacement costs will be transferred to your bursar’s account at Student Central. You may pay these bills online. Unfortunately, credit cannot be issued for materials returned more than 12 months after the bill has been transferred to Student Central.

Indiana and Kentucky residents who are billed for unreturned materials will have borrowing privileges discontinued until materials are returned and fines are paid. Metroversity users who are billed for unreturned materials will have borrowing privileges discontinued at all Metroversity institutions until materials are returned and fines paid.

Appealing a bill

If you believe you were billed in error or would like to discuss possible replacement options, please contact the Coordinator of Access Services at +1-812-941-2486 or email Christopher Proctor at clprocto@iu.edu
